Hands
For Haiti
Macdonald
Drive Elementary raised $1,811.50 for the Red Cross Haiti Relief Fund!
Thank
you to our students for initiating the activities. We raised $918.00 from donations
collected among our school community which was initiated by Sydney Groves in pod 3. Jenny
Walsh in pod 2 held a chocolate chip cookie fundraiser at home in which she raised $43.50
and passed the money over to our school; and Ally Pike, a grade 6 student initiated a
penny drive within our school at which we raised $850.00! We raised a grand total of
$1,811.50! Way to go students!
Thank
you to everyone who supported this fundraiser and a special thank you to Ms. Blackmores
grade 2 class for making Hands for Haiti for our bulletin board display to
celebrate this wonderful accomplishment. Thank you to our parents: Mr. and Mrs. Sharon and
Pearce Gulliver for taking the lead on the counting of pennies and to the following
students who assisted with this process: Ally Pike, Lindsey Parsons, Samantha Pope and
Mark Oake.
This
is a fantastic achievement for Macdonald Drive Elementary and we applaud our students for
their interest and commitment in making this a reality!
